Providing a clean air solution for families in the Ger districts of Mongolia.

Koyash is an engineering-based Nonprofit Corporation aimed at alleviating the impacts of the air-quality crisis in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We have implemented 13 fully autonomous solar-powered air filtration systems that successfully bring the air quality to breathable levels in the yurt-style homes (Gers) of this region.

We are proudly partnered with EPICS in IEEE

Team Leader Bryan Yavari and Project Advisor Shamsher Wadukar recently spoke with EPICS in IEEE to discuss the origins and implementation of the project. With their support, we have been able to supply 13 fully autonomous systems.

Project Koyash is proud to provide clean air for families in Ulaanbaatar. TFCF recently updated us on the use of our system in their sponsor-community. Shown below are photos that TFCF sent of our system being used on-site by families in the community.

  • Ingenuity

Our system was crafted by carefully considering the environment and users that interact with it.

  • Community Service

Koyash is passionate about helping underserved communities.

  • Sustainable Solutions

Our system is autonomous and solar powered. This allows it to serve the community for as long as possible.

  • Humanitarian

We work closely with TFCF to ensure we are best suiting the community’s needs.

“Koyash's innovative solar-powered filtration system is a refuge for the people of Ulaanbaatar, providing hope and clean air to transform lives amidst the air-quality crisis.”

Dr. Jared Schoepf, PhD

Director of Engineering Projects in Community Service at Arizona State University

We engineered a clean-air solution

Our system is a fully autonomous solar-powered air filter. It has been seamlessly implemented into Ger’s and restores the air to healthy levels (as shown) in less than 2 hours.

“Koyash’s system is great for the families in Ulaanbaatar, it is easy to use and effective at filtering the air."

Koyash has developed into a strong team of passionate and innovative students and graduates. Our shared goal is to assist underserved communities by providing them with humanitarian engineering solutions. Project Koyash, named after the Mongolian god of the sun, has implemented autonomous, solar-powered air filters that improve the air quality within the homes of the families that reside in the Ger District of Ulaanbaatar.
